The Role

This role sits at the intersection of market strategy, enterprise relationship development, and operational execution.

As Business Development Director, Mission Critical, you will build and lead a high-performing Business Development team while directly owning enterprise pipeline creation across North America within mission-critical sectors including Data Centers, Healthcare, and Critical Infrastructure.

You will drive predictable pipeline generation, establish operational rigor across CRM and forecasting processes, and cultivate executive-level relationships across some of the most complex construction environments in the world.

This role reports to Sales Director, Mission Critical and will lead a team of up to 10 BDRs.

You will be both a strategic architect and a hands-on enterprise business developer, comfortable building systems while personally opening doors.

What You’ll Own

1. Enterprise Pipeline Strategy

  • Design and execute a North America mission-critical pipeline strategy
  • Identify and penetrate high-value enterprise accounts across Data Centers, Healthcare, and Critical Infrastructure
  • Develop long-term territory and account mapping strategies
  • Uncover early-stage project intelligence and influence pre-RFP conversations
  • Establish predictable pipeline contribution aligned to revenue growth

2. BDR Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and scale a team of up to 10 BDRs
  • Establish performance standards, KPIs, and pipeline quality metrics
  • Drive productivity, accountability, and consistency
  • Coach executive presence and enterprise engagement capabilities
  • Recruit and develop high-caliber talent as the function scales

3. Account-Based Strategy

  • Implement sophisticated account-based development strategies for mission-critical enterprises
  • Coordinate outreach across multiple stakeholders within target organizations
  • Build multi-threaded executive relationships
  • Support complex, long-cycle deal progression through early-stage influence

4. Operational Rigor

  • Own CRM discipline, forecasting integrity, and pipeline governance
  • Build reporting frameworks tied to pipeline quality and conversion rates
  • Drive data-driven outreach optimization
  • Implement scalable processes that support predictable growth

5. Executive & Industry Presence

  • Represent Buildots at major industry conferences and events
  • Establish credibility within mission-critical ecosystems
  • Access and influence senior stakeholders across large contractors, owners, and engineering firms
  • Elevate Buildots’ presence as a strategic partner in mission-critical construction

Candidate Requirements

Experience

  • 8+ years in Business Development
  • 3–5+ years leading BDR or Business Development teams
  • Experience in mission-critical sectors (Data Centers, Power, Industrial Engineering) strongly preferred
  • Experience leading Business Development within construction or construction technology (e.g., large industry players such as Hilti)
  • Proven track record of opening enterprise doors and accessing senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success managing long, complex sales cycles built on trust and credibility
  • Must be capable of generating business directly

  • Executive presence with hands-on, “on-the-ground” BD experience
  • Clear, confident manager of a business development team
  • Analytical, process-driven, and operationally disciplined
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator (Sales, Marketing, RevOps)
  • Strong CRM ownership and pipeline governance expertise

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $120,000-$150,000. Compensation within this range will vary based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for variable compensation and equity, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
