The opportunity
Unity’s game development platform and ad networks power the majority of mobile games worldwide. The Unity game engine runs on billions of devices across the globe across mobile - but also consoles, PCs and even embedded in cars. With this kind of truly global software presence, we are looking for an experienced security professional to drive Unity’s security strategy and to lead our Security team.Reporting to the VP of Release & Engineering Services, the Security team and its leader has a Unity-wide remit to drive our Technology Risk, Security and Governance strategy. The Security team includes Application Security, Infrastructure Security, Security Operations, Offensive Security and Governance, Risk Management & Compliance functions.
In deep partnership with product development teams and internal supporting functions, the CISO will ensure Unity remains a secure and trusted platform for its developers, customers, and users worldwide.
What you'll be doing
- Deeply understand the strategy and business needs from our engine and ads products, to partner on developing pro-active security approaches.
- Lead and develop a world-class security team that stays ahead of emerging threats and regulatory requirements - and helps all teams at Unity to do the same.
- Choose, integrate and maintain the right security tooling portfolio to support a high quality Secure Software Development Lifecycle at Unity.
- Collaborate with internal systems teams, platform teams and audit teams to support compliance efforts and respond to customer inquiries about Unity’s security methodology and certifications.
- Develop and deliver data driven updates to Unity’s executives, audit committee and board that reflect our risk landscape, security posture and progress on strengthening Unity’s company and platform resilience.
What we're looking for
- Extensive experience in cybersecurity leadership, preferably within the gaming, platform service or SaaS industries.
- In-depth knowledge of secure software architecture, cybersecurity standards for cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), data protection, encryption protocols, and threat detection systems.
- Familiarity with securing AI/ML systems and tooling infrastructure as well as defending against AI-driven threats.
- Strong organisational leadership skills and ability to partner on both strategy and execution across team and organisation boundaries.
