Description
What are we looking for?
The primary purpose of the System Engineer is to support the MDClone Customer Success team in the installation, implementation, configuration, upgrade, and optimization of the system and database performance required to operate the MDClone Platform. This role requires expertise in Linux systems, and in managing large-scale data environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. along with a strong understanding of resource and application requirements for healthcare big data queries at scale. The ideal candidate will also have expertise with big data platforms, preferably with Cloudera. In addition, the role will provide input into the use of the system, its technology and the definition of architectural and networking approach applied within the MDClone Platform, to meet the company’s and customer’s long-term requirements.
This role’s everyday responsibilities include:
- Support of MDClone customer success teams to facilitate smooth and timely implementation,provide ongoing support/maintenance, and complete upgrades
- Collaborate with customers to understand their business and system architecture to ensure a high level of familiarity with the platform and how to best support it
- Be the subject matter expert on all network related requirements and configuration
- Lead cloud and on-premises architecture reviews to support the MDClone implementation
- Collaborate with MDClone product and development teams on the infrastructure, architecture, support design, and implementation of infrastructure for the MDClone platform
Academic and professional qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical field, (Information Technology, Computer Science, Software, Engineering, or related technical discipline), or equivalent combination of training and work experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in setting up or administration of both Windows and Linux (RedHat, CentOS) servers. Having Red Hat System Admin (RHCSA) and Cloudera (CCA) certifications is a plus
- Experience with containerization technologies, Dockers, k8s, Rancher, OpenShift
- Experience with cloud platforms: familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure)
- Virtualization expertise using VMWare and VDI infrastructure/configuration
- Experience in setting up or administration of network infrastructure (Azure NSG, AWS Security Groups, firewall/VPN, routers, WAN/LAN/MAN connectivity)
- Experience in setting up or administration of mission-critical web applications (Apache Tomcat, IIS)
- Experience with database installation and basic configuration (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis)
- Experience with automation scripting such Ansible
- Experience with Cloudera or other big data technologies including Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, Hive, Impala is a plus. Experience should include installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Experience working with Federal agencies is a plus
- Excellent communication and presentation skills: ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively across teams
- Must be able to work effectively with project managers and team members to provide support as both an independent operator and team player
- Collaboration with RD, Systems, QA, and other stakeholders
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and quickly adapt to new technologies and new processes
Travel Requirements:
Ability to travel occasionally as warranted by project work and location; frequency will vary depending on project requirements
