We are seeking an experienced Credit Risk Underwriter. This person will play a pivotal role in driving our approach to underwriting. Responsibilities will include evaluating funding applications, financial information, credit reports, and other relevant documents to assess the creditworthiness of eCommerce sellers seeking financing, while utilizing our technology and data analytic tools. The ideal candidate will have experience in a FinTech company and ideally has worked with eCommerce sellers in the past. - Leverage our technology and data analytics tools to assess funding applications for our eCommerce seller applications, analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to determine creditworthiness. Responsible for entire underwriting process from inception to funding
- Apply underwriting guidelines and policies consistently, incorporating fintech best practices to evaluate funding applications and make informed decisions within designated approval limits
- Work closely with sales, product, and other teams to gather necessary information and ensure accuracy in assessing funding applications, while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Analyze and evaluate potential new data sources for incremental value in credit assessment strategies in collaboration with the data and risk team
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and lending policies in all underwriting decisions, staying up to date with the latest industry trends and regulations
- Perform periodic credit reviews to monitor credit quality, identify potential risks, and optimize our underwriting process
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of underwriting decisions, prepare reports, and provide recommendations to senior management, leveraging our data analytics tools to drive continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, statistics, computer science, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in underwriting roles, preferably with eCommerce sellers, but with a focus on fintech solutions
- Deep understanding of lending principles, credit risk assessment, and underwriting procedures, with a strong interest in leveraging technology and data analytics
- Proficiency in analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and related documents, as well as experience with data analytics tools and platforms
- Strong knowledge of regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements in the lending industry with an emphasis on fintech regulations
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, including technology and sales teams
- SQL/Data analysis experience preferred
- Big advantage: Proven experience with collection processes and management and knowledge in collection laws and regulation
- Viably is located in Cary, North Carolina, for someone located in the RDU area, we are a hybrid workplace. If you are located outside of the RDU area, we are work-from-home
